EU Opens €1 Billion Innovation Fund Auction for Industrial Heat Decarbonisation

The European Commission has published the final terms for its second Europe-wide auction supporting industrial process-heat decarbonisation, with successful projects receiving a fixed premium linked to CO₂ reductions for up to five years. The auction builds on a strong first round, which selected 65 projects across 10 European countries projected to avoid more than 6.6 million tonnes of CO₂ over ten years. This second round significantly expands the budget to €1 billion. A major signal for industrial decarbonisation financing in Europe.
